The Yay-Aww Phenomenon. This is the tendency to tell the whole story - the struggle and the victory which is great sometimes! However, when you are purposely trying to reach past a threshold and grow your capacity for more income and more joy - the Yay-Aww Phenomonen stifles your expansion.
I used to make these Facebook posts documenting Yay-Aww days. This isn’t my invention, I first heard Brant Hansen use it when he was working at a Denver radio station. Here’s an example from Facebook:
July 31, 2019
It's been a while since I've done a Yay!
Aww
post.
Maybe it's been a while since I had one.
Woke up early after finally sleeping all night. YAY!
Opened the front door to a black bear on my porch. We both peed a little. We both turned and ran. AWW.
No dogs barking next door. YAY!
Someone's letting their brindle pit bull dog run loose, or we've had another abandonment. Again. AWW
Lovely day for the cats to have some time out in the front yard. YAY!
Grit brought a Wren inside that thankfully escaped her clutches. YAY!!!
But it's too fast for me to catch. The front door is open, and all lights are off. 2 cats are locked in the bathroom. I'm hiding in my bedroom with the other 4. AWW.
My favorite coaching program that covers my end-of-the-year finances and fills my Soul appears to be dead in the water. AWW.
Was coaching a coach today who I greatly admire and respect, and she gave me my favorite compliment - the space I hold and the way I coach feels so safe. YAY!
Managed to pull myself together and drive to the store and see all the people to get cream for my afternoon tea. YAY!
They were out. AWW.
And the day's not over yet!! Happy New Moon! May you have more YAY than AWW today!
It’s funny and entertaining because we can all identify with roller-coaster days like that. Up, down, good, bad, yay, aww. They cancel each other out, and while you don’t feel terrible, you don’t feel as happy as you could either if you weren’t keeping the see-saw level.
In my course, Train Your Body to Wealth, we have one WhatsApp channel that’s ONLY for celebration. Very little chat and absolutely no AWW allowed, only YAY. We never process anything we might call negative in that channel or in the Facebook group.
When I first set the group up in this way, it was because in previous groups, momentum would build rapidly, but one “negative” share would blow it all out of the water for everyone, and often, we couldn’t recover that momentum before the 40-day course ended. No one’s fault, but energy is energy, and it does what it does. To build it takes time when you’re unpracticed, and depleting events take longer to reverse.
It was made clear to me when I took a break and turned the previous course into what it is now that I had to stress the nothing-but-celebration aspect of it. Wow, that was hard for me. I consider myself a Shadow Walker - I’ve been in the worst situations and heard the most godawful things in my earlier careers, and I can hold space for all of it.
I KNOW how important it is to acknowledge the parts of ourselves that prefer destruction to creation, as well as the evil side of humanity, and yet…BE’N The Gang were very clear - NO negatives in this ONE space.
BE’N The Gang are a group I channel, and I don’t question them when I get a directive because it’s incredibly rare that they issue one. I took it on faith and immediately noticed the way momentum builds and moves people into money flow so much faster than they could on their own when we do nothing but celebrate.
This latest group brought to my awareness the danger in Yay-Aww celebrating because I was doing it, and I started seeing it in others. Let me be clear: there is not one person doing anything wrong - we all do it, and I never saw the problem with it until about 2 weeks ago.
As I was explaining my awareness to the group and giving instructions to edit ourselves, I “heard” the following:
“ - this is why you are to only celebrate here. When you make a dedication or set a strong intention for something specific, in this case, more money, you must focus as intently on building the energy, or it will dissipate before creation can occur.
This is a chamber of amplification, and you are to speak into this container only that which you want to AMPLIFY.”
It was such an eye-opener. Of course! When we precede the celebration with all the crap that came before, we are doing the Yay-Aww staying neutral thing. They cancel each other out! Even in my explaining to the group what I was hearing at that very moment, I caught myself wanting to describe how hard it’s been to not understand and how I want to celebrate this understanding.
Here are some examples. I’ll bold the sections that need to be edited out (not all these are mine):
I’m so happy that my business is successful after 8 years of struggle.
I’m thrilled to finally be breaking the 100K mark for income after 5 full years of writing it every New Year’s Day.
I’m so thrilled to have found a diagnosis that keeps my A1c levels down so I never slip into Type II diabetes I just wish I’d known sooner.
I’m writing the Train Your Body to Wealth book now that I can manage my ADHD again and stop farting around.
I blew out a tire, and it took forever to get a tow truck, but I’m celebrating that tires were on sale, and I saved $50!
I’m celebrating getting a Mercedes I’ve always wanted, but I got a great deal on the interest rate, plus it’s a year old.
Backstory energy, qualifying energy, and justification energy all deplete the hell out of celebration energy. It leads us into areas we’re meant to avoid when manifesting. It inserts an unnecessary glitch into the matrix.
How hard it was to get here, what it took to have something to celebrate, takes the wind right out of your sails of creation. We have to put the period at the end of the sentence where it belongs - the facts. You can hear more about this concept in this YouTube Video from my Shadow Blessings course.
The part about how hard it’s been does not need to be there. Who cares how hard it’s been? What am I trying to justify by saying how hard X was before I achieved result Z? Can I not just celebrate this awesome moment purely without any disempowering wrap-around statements?
This is incredibly challenging for someone whose humor gives gallow, is self-deprecating, and frequently sarcastic! Yay-Aww is a way of life for me, lol!
It’s not that we never share what came before - the whole story often needs telling to teach, to metabolize, to mark points along the journey of life.
Frequently, if not always, in marketing, we are talking about what came before to illustrate how we found the solution *cough, cough* like the Train Your Body to Wealth sales page does!
We absolutely have to process pain that won’t move on its own or with simple measures, but that’s not done in an amplification chamber set up to manifest something specific! That’s done with a coach, a friend or confidante, a private journal, or a great therapist.
Too often, Facebook and internet groups turn into massive dump zones where a manufactured intimacy and some anonymity can fall into amplifying misery - not always, and it’s not always a bad thing to dump some things somewhere, but pay attention. Do you feel energized after or more down in the dumps? Is anyone moderating and guiding the discussion, or is it just a free-for-all of chaos? Does it help to share your misery? Sometimes, it really does, but there’s a time and a place, and manifestation zones are not either.
What do you want to amplify? The success? The joy? That $5 you found at the bottom of your pocket?
Is the backstory justifying the celebration?
Like - don’t hate me because I’m rich because I was once eating Ramen noodles and Lean Cuisine for weeks on end. Or don’t judge me for having a Jaguar because I used to drive my grandpa’s AMC Eagle that had the driver’s side door roped shut. Oh, this old thing (gorgeous red coat)? Oh, I got it at a thrift shop. Etc. etc. etc.
Put the period where it belongs. I’m celebrating <insert wonderful thing here> PERIOD.
What are you celebrating?
XO,
LMW

So so good , has me connecting the many stories I run inside myself from the lectures on humility .. or having to explaining/justify myself as a possible buzzkill to manifesting or even enjoying more ... thank you
Yay!
